The Toast Rack is a difficult enough project to make due to its size and when it is being bent the narrow sections can be difficult to control. 2mm Aluminium is the most suitable material as it is reasonably easy to bent and is sturdy. 1mm Aluminium is quite flimsy and 3mm is too tough to bend properly. If you use 3mm Perspex students often find it difficult to drill and file without breaking. Bending with the Strip Heater also becomes a problem due to the 'floppiness' of the material.
